Weather Radar and Rain Detection

Weather radar images show the current and predicted development of precipitation (steady rain, storms, showers, and snowfall) on the map. Estimated precipitation amounts are differentiated by colors. Radar precipitation detection occurs every 10 minutes, and the images are subsequently available online, including the latest forecast.

Current precipitation and storms are measured by national weather services. A weather radar operates on the principle of backscattering of microwaves reflected from precipitation. Estimated precipitation intensity is calculated based on the strength of reflection - storms and heavy rain appear in red on radar images.
