How to Use Satellite Images

Satellite images show current cloud cover over Europe from the perspective of Meteosat satellites. Cloud cover is highlighted in white, with lighter colors indicating thicker cloud layers over a given area. Infrared spectrum enables tracking cloud movement even during nighttime hours. Cloud cover satellite images are updated every 15 minutes.

Meteosat Satellites (MSG)

Meteosat satellites are meteorological satellites operated by the European organization Eumetsat. These are geostationary orbit satellites that have been regularly sending satellite images since 1977.

Data from the satellite are available in various channels. Here, you will find satellite images from the infrared spectrum, visible both day and night.
